Balanced Single Acting Seal - High Axial Float
Multi-spring balanced seal for shafts with high axial movement.
Series IPSM 712 is a multi-spring seal specially designed for higher axial float of the shaft. High axial float is inherent in some between-bearing pump designs and other equipment; IPSM 712 works successfully where shaft axial float is up to ±3.0 mm.
The multi-spring pack keeps face contact positive across the full range of shaft movement, so the seal does not open or overload as the rotor floats.
The balanced design also lets IPSM 712 handle higher pressures than an equivalent unbalanced seal.
Key features
- Accommodates shaft axial float up to ±3.0 mm
- Multi-spring pack for positive face contact through the stroke
- Balanced faces for higher pressure capability
- Suited to between-bearing pump designs
Typical applications
- Between-bearing (BB) pumps
- Equipment with high shaft end-play
- Process pumps with thermal shaft growth
Materials of construction
- Faces: silicon carbide / tungsten carbide / carbon
- Elastomers: Viton, EPDM, PTFE
- Metal parts: SS-316
